FOTD: Heavy liner, Bold Lips

*waves*

So today's fotd is brought to you with NEWS! YES! Exciting. It's very simple, minimal makeup but still makes a statement with the heavy liner and lips. The look...

S/N: Aren't these earrings lovely?! I purchased several "Basketball Wives" earrings and these are my absolute favorite! And oh how they shineeee :)

I used WnW H2o liquid liner in Ultra Black to achieve the winged eye and I;m wearing #3 lashes...MAC Nightmoth l/l, Violetta l/s and Fab Frenzy superglass for the lip =)

So where'd I actually go in this look? I went to fill out my new hire paperwork for.... can you guess where?! (sssshhhh..I still don't want to jinx it! lol) I'm very much excited as I'd been attempting to get in with this company for a while and after so many interviews you begin to wonder if it's every really going to happen...and it did FINALLY! I have a few other BIG things coming up that I'm excited for. I also have some makeup posts that I was saving for this moment and they feature an interesting spin on interview appropriate makeup so stay tuned for that =) Also, I finally picked up a halloween costume (sexy in fashion, of course lol) and I'm thinking of some makeup ideas to later do a post and COTD (Costume of the Day lol!) . Are you loves getting dressed up and if so, what as?

Lipstick Lovin' :: MAC Russian Red

Salutations.

Yall know I love a bold red lip, and for me it doesn't get much better than Russian Red for that category.

THE GOOD: Easy to apply, I've heard that other reds like Ruby Woo apply like crayons but this isn't the case here. A pro for me is that it's matte, as I'm not of fan of lustre looking red lipsticks. This doesn't feather and doesn't absolutely need a lipliner. The staying power on this is AH-MAY-ZING! I'm almost sure I wore it several times for 6+ hours without reapplying
or significant fading. And most important. It makes your teeth look WHITEEEEE. Like I mean, mine aren't yellow or anything but anyone should be able to appreciate an instant teeth brightener in a small tube, yes? :)

THE QUESTIONABLE: It's a matte. For some people that's a con because it's drying. But almost all mattes are drying, ok? Ok.

*Warning: Red lips may incite laughter, spontaneous webcam photoshoots and temporary (or permanent) Iamtheshitness syndrome*

Rates? *drumrolls*

My favorite bright red! What's yours?

Lipstick Lovin' :: Inglot Slim Gel #65

Ayo.

I love Inglot. I love the color of this lippie, and that's about it.

I bought this a while ago when I was visiting NY. I fell in LOVE with the color, as a true purple-y lilac-y shade is very hard to come across.

PROS: Beautiful color, applies well, slightly buidable, feels smooth and moisturizing on lips

CONS: Such a smooth lipstick that it feels like it'll melt on a hot day (or in your purse) or easily break if pressed even slightly hard. I kept mine in the fridge all summer. The biggest issue is that it is not long lasting at ALL. I constantly found myself applying then reapplying not too long after. The subsequent issue to that is that this is as it is called a SLIM STICK so with all the reapplications that it takes it eats up so much of the lippie in such a short amount of time it definitely left me wondering if it was worth the $12 price tag. And I don't like to worry about my lipsticks running out after a few uses ya know?!

With that being said, I later got my hands on MAC's Go For It (LE) but for what would've been an extra $2 or so you're getting basically the same color with a lot more staying power. How'd I rate? *drumrolls*

Mostly because I'm out here on a budget tryna get my $$$ worth! Yadaaaamean???! As much as I love the color I cannot justify this as a $12 plus 8.25% tax percentage purchase! lol Tried any Inglot lipsticks? What was your experience?

xoxo.

Lipstick Lovin' :: MAC Ravishing

Heyyyy!

Maybe a few months ago I mentioned that I bought (or wanted to get) MAC's Ravishing lipstick. I did end up getting it and I love it! It's a cremesheen formula so it goes on pretty nicely (although not as great as my other CS) but any flaws in the lipstick can be concealed by placing a gloss on top.

This lippie does have strong coral undertones but I'm wearing it here with MAC's Fulfilled plushglass which pushes it slightly pinkish :)

I think this is a great coral-y pink that can be worn with a wide range of looks. It wears on an average of 3-4 hours for me. Pros to this lipstick is that it is easily buildable for a lighter or more vibrant flush of color AND I can wear this shade without a lipliner (or gloss!). The only con for me is that I do find it extremely drying and exfoliated lips are a MUST for this! I would have to compare the color to a toned down Vegas Volt (One of my favvvvs). Rating? *drumrolls*

What do you think? Have any of you cupcakes tried this shade?

Runaway Lips!

I told yall about how I bought MAC's Runaway Red in my haul post and here it is in full action. I definitely noticed that what may tone this lippie down is that it has such strong fuschia base. I applied by outlining with a lip brush and before filling in with the lipstick it definitely looked like I was wearing a pink. Anywho's its a satin finish (one of my least favorite finishes) but in my opinion it applies better and with a way more moisturized feel than the typical satins.

As I said before, its not an all in yo face type red which makes it everyday wearable. It may still be too bright for some but I'm used to bold lips so this was like elementary for me lol

I believe this lippie wore for roughly 4 hours. It has a natural shine to it, but I topped it with Revealing l/g for a glossier finish. I like it. Very wearable for a range of skin tones. What's your favorite red lip?

Candy Yum Yum, Revisited

And this time I love it! I was determined to feel the hype that everyone else felt when wearing it, and after this time I did. I paired it with magenta liner and a smokey eye and I was set to go. This lippie definitely deserves a warning sign because it is neon pink and as far as I know there aren't any other ones exactly like it. It's definitely an attention grabber as people could not seem to be ALLLL up in ma face when I was wearing it! Lol. Anywhos...

And since my phone seems to capture color better...yup. it's THAT bright. :)

What products have you written off and then loved upon second examination?

Small Haul: Milani Baked Blush and NYX lipstick (Swatches)

Last week I went past Walgreens and I picked a few things up. I was highly upset that I missed the Shea Moisture buy one get one a few weeks before but I still picked up a container of the curl enhancing smoothie (review once I use it). My Walgreen also had Milani FULLY in stock and also WnW lipsticks and polishes were 69 cent. Unfortunately 69 cent must attract too many people because the WnW selection was not large so I only picked up two. I decided to finally grab a Milani baked blush to see what the hype was about and I ended up not being able to choose so I got two.

The first color is 521A and the second is 549A
As you can see they both have great color payoff. The pink is very pretty and I feel that it is very similar to Show Orchid by MAC. The brown would probably make a great nude. I can't think of any dupes off the top of my head. These lipsticks are nice but they definitely don't wear as long as most but for 69 cents I can't complain.

I loved the casing that the Milani Baked blushes came in and I was even more delighted to get home and discover that there was a mirror and a small brush underneath. I picked up blushes in Red Vino and Corallina. I believe they were around $7-8 apiece.

All I can say is, these blushes swatch LOVELY. Milani products are worth all the hype they receive. I used Red Vino the other day and it literally takes almost no product to give your face a great colorful glow. I have not worn Corallina but it is a BEW-ti-FUL peachy shimmer shade and I think it'd go great with a lot of spring/summer make up looks. I don't even like shimmer in my blushes and I'm loving em. These are looking like WOC must-haves...idk...Milani is the best thing happening at drug stores for me rightna. GEEEESH, now I want more!

Also, I went into a local DOLLAR store and I found this quite amusing. Shit is real out here. lol.
What are you Milani recommendations?

$1 MAC DUPES!!

So, school started last week and I've neglected the blog a a little :-/ BUT on the brighter side of that I found an app for my phone that allows me to post straight from there which was pretty cool. I went to my local BSS for a few purchases and some lipsticks caught my eye. I have no preference to lippies and typically the cheaper the better for me. I've brought several $1 lipsticks before that I've actually LOVED. Yesterday, I brought about 7 of them and when I got home and tried them on I realized that a few were good MAC dupes. The downside to the cheap dupes is that there's only one finish and they wear off pretty easily. However, if you're simply looking for a color to try out before buying it at MAC for $13 more or you don't mind reapplication often these are definitely for you. I've also found the actual packaging of these lippies to be quite cheap but heyyyyy it's a dollar, what should I expect? I'm working on getting a new camera but for right now I have to deal with these cell phone camera pics! Enjoy!

MAC Cyber dupe ===> Nickia K. Amethyst #901

MAC Morange dupe ===> Nickia K. Apricot #106

MAC Rebel dupe ===> Nickia K. Black Orchid #302

If you're looking for a great cheap lipstick, these Nickia K's are probably the best I've ever used for only $1. Even though there isn't a long wear time, the pigmentation of them are great! Granted, some of them are hit or miss but I never feel upset because I didn't shell out much to begin with. What are your favorite cheap MAC dupes?

Cyber'd Out

So, I was recently on a discussion about MAC Cyber lipstick. I think so many people really would like to wear this lipstick but are unsure of how to make it work. Cyber is one of my favorite colors from MAC because I feel like its such a distinctive sexy color. My advice is that when you plan on wearing Cyber it's often best to wear minimal makeup on the rest of your face. Honestly, this is the type of color that is all about the LIPS. I generally pair Cyber with Nightmoth liner from MAC, and if I want a glossy instead of matte-ish finish I'll use a clear lipglass on top. The face I'll typically wear just eyeliner, mascara and a liiiiitle blush. Scroll down to check out the pic of me in Cyber (Wearing only MSF in Dark and La Femme blush in Grape on face). What's your favorite statement lipstick?
